Varanasi, India
- One of the oldest continuously civilized cities in the world (if not THE oldest)
The Indian Sari
- Is THE oldest continuously worn garment in the world
- Requires nine (9) yards of fabric to comfortably walk
- It’s hygienic in that there is no stitching, therefore it is easier to launder
There’s an old saying “When in Rome do as the Romans Do”.
- I wear a sari to embrace Indian culture
- I wore a sari because it is more comfortable in the Varanasi heat
- Indian women nodded in approval upon seeing a white woman in a Sari
I respect Indian culture. I respect their history. I respect their choice to continuously wear the garment.
